This unique bowl was hand turned from a beautiful piece of Maple Burl, preserving the dramatic natural live edge created by the tree itself.

The burl displays extraordinary swirling grain, knots, natural inclusions, color variations, and organic irregularities. The rugged rim rises and falls around the bowl, giving the piece a sculptural quality from every viewing angle.

Rather than trying to make the wood perfectly uniform, I preserved its natural character. Every opening, irregular edge, knot, and variation in the grain is part of what makes this piece completely unique.
